Labor Union threatens to support Republicans in the 2012
“Maybe I am confused.. .. The labor union feels disenfranc hised by the Democrats because they feel the Democrats are not doing enough to prevent legislatio n killing unions and collective bargaining agreements in states with Republican Governors and Republican led majorities ? No, I was right. It doesn't make sense. The AFL-CIO are issuing a threat to the Democrats stating they may support Republican s if a better options presents itself. LOL Good Luck with that!!! The logic in their argument is completely flawed. Since Republican s have obtained their new majority power, they have spent the majority of their time on bills to defund planned parenting, increasing taxes for abortion providers, eliminatin g labor unions and collective bargaining agreements , voter restrictio n legislatio n as well as getting rid of Medicare, Medicaid, and Gov't Social Security. Not to mention, attaching unemployme nt legislatio n to prevent the expiration of the Bush Tax Cuts. Let's not forget, the 4 billion subsidies allowed for oil company's that does not pay taxes on their trillion dollar profits. If you represente d a labor union for CEOs then your threat might actually carry some weight. But, since you represent blue collar workers from your ivory tower....I say again. Good Luck with that!!!!”http://www.huffingtonpost.com/social/Deona_Renna_Hooper/richard-trumka-democrats_n_864518_89106501.html

Should Social Work Degrees be more accessible to Practitioners?
Administration of child welfare policies and procedures vary widely from state to state, and within those states each county agency approaches child welfare with equally different child protection philosophies. Whether a child receives a long term foster care placement, subsidized guardianship, financial assistance for their relative caregiver, reunification and support services, and/or prevention services, the county or state a child lives in should not determine the standard of care a family receives. Children in need of protection through a child welfare agency should have the same rights and privileges across the state they live in as well as the same rights and privileges as children in other states. Minimum standards in service delivery, policies, and procedures are needed in all child welfare agencies to secure equal access to services, financial assistance, and permanency alternatives. This paper attempts to identify innovated ways using a nursing model’s approach to remove educational barriers preventing mandatory accreditation standards from being implemented in child welfare agencies. https://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&pid=explorer&chrome=true&srcid=0Bwy0hhCE0GkFZWI3OWM1N2QtNjYyNS00ZmNjLTliYTUtOGI2ODA2N2VjZGNl&hl=en
